As with the neck lift, here at Advanced Plastic and Hand Surgery we practice two types of facelift procedures.
The traditional facelift begins with an incision in the hairline at the temples. The incision continues around the ear and ends in the lower scalp. The doctors may sculpt or redistribute fat away from your face, jowls, and neck. Typically, they also reposition underlying tissue and lift the deeper layers of the face and muscles. Excess skin is then trimmed and the incision is closed.
In a mini-lift, shorter incisions are made at the temples and continue around the ear. Because the results are less dramatic than a full facelift, the mini-lift is usually recommended for patients who are not experiencing a lot of skin relaxation and laxity.
